1865 - Abraham Lincoln  Dies.
The 16th President of the United States of America dies after being shot the night before.



1912 - RMS Titanic sinks.
On it's maiden voyage between Southampton, England & New Yrok City, USA.
Only 711 of 2,227 passengers survive.

1947 - Jackie Robinson debuts.
The Rookie of the Year, makes his debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers breaking the colour barrier,
Now every MLB player wears his #42 on this day every year.

1989 - Hillsborough Disaster.
24,000 Liverpool football fans went to watch a soccer game in Sheffield against Nottingham Forest,
96 of them did not return alive. Sparking over 20 years of public inquiry. The disaster changed the way stadia, police and crowds are dealt with.
